Given that payday has recently deposited it’s spoils into our bank accounts, there is really no better time to get on with all that autumn shopping we’ve been holding out on. By autumn shopping of course, I don’t just mean an influx in hearty root veg on a grocery list, pumpkin spice lattes, or those heady candles that create the perfect autumnal scent for your home. I am, of course (and especially) referring to shopping of the garment variety - and trust me when I say, I’m not holding back.
When searching for the perfect transitional pieces to add to my wardrobe, I look for two basic things: comfort (well-fitted, appropriate for the weather) and, of course, cute. The third non-essential but a ‘big plus’ box that I love to tick is that the chosen pieces not only add a little flavour, but also work seamlessly with other pieces in my current collection. It’s generally pretty easy to tick the first two boxes when doing a generic shop, but a little more difficult to find the third. One of my favourite shops that’s currently offering fabulous things that fit in all categories is Monki. With Monki, there is always a quirky shirt dress (current highlights include an abstract cat print) that’s so standout that I simply have to have it, regardless of whether it fits with the rest of my wardrobe, but there’s also a variety of autumn essentials - think neutral knitwear and capsule denim - that will simply go with everything.
